Qualification evidence and academic records

UK ENIC Document Translation Services

UK ENIC assesses overseas qualifications; a translation provider makes foreign-language evidence understandable. We prepare English-language translations of academic records when required for an ENIC application, while keeping course names, grade keys and awarding-body information faithfully tied to the original.

Documents we can work with

UK ENIC may ask for a certificate, official transcript and certified English translations depending on the qualification and original language. Do not assume that every certificate must be retranslated, especially where a valid accepted English version or another recognised option already exists. Check the requirements for your specific assessment first.

  • Degree and diploma certificates issued overseas
  • Official transcripts, module lists and grade scales
  • Awarding-body letters and qualification supplements
  • Professional or technical training certificates

Accuracy checks that matter

Keep the original award title and grading system. Translators should not convert a foreign grade into a UK classification or claim that a qualification is equivalent to a particular UK degree. Academic recognition is the receiving assessment body’s responsibility.

Names, award dates, subject details and official seals must remain traceable across pages. If a transcript references a second document or grading legend, provide the complete record. A translation that omits a reverse-side legend may be incomplete even if the main certificate looks straightforward.

Details we track

  • Issuing institution and official qualification title
  • Course levels, credits, modules and grading legend
  • Award dates and student identity details
  • Registration references, seals and annotations

A practical example

An applicant has an overseas engineering degree and a six-page transcript in another language. The certificate states the degree title while the transcript records modules and grades under a local system. Both need to be translated faithfully so that UK ENIC can perform its own qualification comparison; the translator must not invent UK equivalents.

Illustrative scenario only: translation conveys what a source says; it does not establish the authenticity, legal effect, professional approval or accuracy of the original information.

Preparing your source files

Provide complete colour scans of qualification documents, all transcript pages and the language pair. Include UK ENIC’s current document upload instructions and your deadline. An English-language supplement may also be useful context, but do not replace the foreign original unless the recipient accepts it.

Provide the recipient’s written instructions before work begins. Include the complete original, the required language pair, how the translation will be used and the deadline so that the service and appropriate form of certification can be agreed.

Deliverables, review and formalities

We can prepare signed accuracy-certified English translations when requested, suitable for submission for assessment subject to UK ENIC’s own checks. We do not issue Statements of Comparability and cannot guarantee an equivalence outcome or that a document will be accepted.

See UK ENIC’s document requirements for the receiving organisation’s requirements. This external process is separate from a supplier’s translation and accuracy declaration.

How we handle the project

  1. 01Identify the assessment documents

We review the exact ENIC checklist and determine which foreign-language pages need translating.

  2. 02Translate the records faithfully

We preserve official awards, modules, grades and notes without altering their academic meaning.

  3. 03Provide the required language files

We supply the agreed declaration and PDFs while UK ENIC independently assesses the qualification.

What affects your quotation?

Length, grading tables, specialist module terminology, source quality and certification determine the quote. Where multiple records share terminology, send the complete set so names and programme titles can be reviewed consistently.

We confirm the scope and delivery terms before work starts, including whether a translation statement, specialist review, editing of artwork or hard copies are required.

Order ENIC translation UK

Upload the complete source, intended recipient, language pair and deadline. We will review the details and confirm the suitable quotation and deliverables before work begins.

Frequently asked questions

Can you translate academic documents for UK ENIC?

Yes, once you provide the current ENIC requirements and the full source documents.

Does translation give me a Statement of Comparability?

No. Only the relevant assessment body can issue its qualification assessment.

Should my grading scale be translated?

Yes, if it is part of the source evidence and relevant to the recipient’s checklist.

Can you convert foreign grades to UK grades?

Translation preserves the original grades; equivalence is a separate decision.

Can I send scanned certificates?

We can assess scans for translation, but ENIC may set additional verification or upload requirements.
